#neverstoplearning tip: define what success means to you

e4b0dd0b969edaf48029f57767e172e5

Happy Friday!

As entrepreneurs, it’s so easy to compare ourselves to others. Whether it be our friends, co-workers or social media followers, it’s human nature to gauge our successes based on what we observe others’ successes to be. When we observe a friend who has the freedom to travel frequently or a colleague who gets a new investor, it’s hard not reexamine our own self. But it’s a cycle that can never be won. This weeks #neverstoplearning challenge is all about defining what success means to YOU.

Success means different things to different people. For some it’s the amount of money they make. For others, it’s the amount of time they can spend with loved ones. And still others, it’s something more personal — overcoming a fear or making a childhood dream come true. Once you define what real success means to you, you can stop comparing yourself to others and enjoy the little things that matter. As the saying goes, “The only person standing in your way, is you.” So, remember — be kind to yourself and amazing things will happen.

#neverstoplearning tip: find and grow your support team

96603e3178f09a5a1d18893119e69d5f

I love that this quote speaks to the strength of a team.

Happy Friday!

As creative entrepreneurs, we can’t do it alone. Just as the saying goes “two heads are better than one.” We all need the support from others to make things work. Some days we need people to bounce our ideas off of. Other days we need to seek out help from a strategist to get things in order. For those of us with brick-and-mortar shops, we need store managers, selling specialists, merchandisers and buyers. Regardless of our individual needs, the people we choose to surround ourselves with inside our little communities must be trustworthy, and furthermore share our creative visions. This week’s #neverstoplearning challenge centers on finding and building a strong support team.

As we look forward to our 10 year mark next year, one of my main goals is to empower my team to new levels. Once you build a team you trust to execute your ideas and creative visions you are given the opportunity (and more importantly the time) to lead your company to new heights. And, an added perk? You can enjoy a day (or two!) dedicated to re-energizing and re-inspiring your spirit and purpose.

#neverstoplearning tip: find what keeps you balanced

This quote is a fantastic reminder to find balance in your career

Happy Friday!

Being your own boss and building your own business is equally liberating, as it is challenging. It is not uncommon for sleep to become an afterthought, for inboxes to always be full, and for the work week and the weekend to blur into one. Being tired and overwhelmed is a feeling far too familiar for many of us entrepreneurs. That’s why this week’s #neverstoplearning tip is crucial to sustaining success (and sanity!): find what keeps you balanced.

Many people often ask me how I find balance in my life, whether it’s between managing several different businesses or finding time for myself outside of the world I built within Pink Olive. For me, it’s keeping in touch with three key things: passion, unique ability and faith.

When you find your passion and are truly doing what you love, work doesn’t seem like work anymore. Yes, it may sound cliche; however, I believe there is power in living in gratitude. When you are doing something that brings you joy, you no longer have to resent work. You can live in appreciation for what you get to wake up and do every morning.

Finding your passion leads you to discovering your unique ability, and this often becomes the heart of your business. When you are in your zone of unique ability, you can happily do your job all day, every day. Plus, we often continue to discover new and amazing things about ourselves. Almost a decade later, I still am discovering new ways to utilize my unique ability.

Lastly, trusting in your passion and unique ability would not be possible without faith in yourself, and furthermore, faith in the unknown. When you embrace the unexpected challenges and obstacles that come your way, these roadblocks motivate you to propel forward.
