I had the pleasure of meeting Amy Flurry at the Makers Summit back in February and I am so delighted to share her book — Recipe for Press.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned through the years is to be nimble and open to change. The best gift you can get from anyone is to receive constructive feedback. It gives you the chance to grow, to see your business in a new light, and to truly be the best possible.You will hear me often talk about the importance of feedback and of getting new ideas from your circle of trusted colleagues and mentors. You want to surround yourself with people who know you, your business and your world. You’ll find new inspiration this way, and stay on top of your market.

But there’s another important point I want to make, and that is that at the end of the day, it is your business. Listen to the feedback and ideas of others, but remember to stay true to your vision and your aesthetic. After all, you can’t please everyone! Take their advice with a side of self-awareness and purpose. When you can align yourself with the right people and feedback to guide you along the way (coupled with your unique talents), the opportunity is endless.
